The day has finally come where I can write this article because ALERT Conan Gray has dropped his second single off of his sophomore album "Superache" and I'm in love but crying. If you didn't read my article off of his first single Memories well you should probably go read that after this and listen to the song while doing so. But today the focus is Yours. Can anyone in the comments tell me if they've been in a relationship where they've never felt like someone's? Like you were just there to float around but they didn't actually love you? I haven't but let me know in the comments cause that's what this song is. Longing for more in a one sided relationship where you're sleeping with the ghost of your significant other. Conan Gray brings back that vulnerability in every one of his songs and combines it into a Conan Gray-Adele teary eyed ballad that will have you breaking down in tears but coming back for seconds and thirds because we love torturing ourselves. I want to remind you that while I'm writing this I'm listening to the song and eating ice cream. Lol kidding. Not really tho.
First up- Verse 1
We start off with the lyric ‘ I’m someone you call when you’re alone’ and I don’t know if it’s me but with how much of music can be reused and shaped and molded into the person who’s making that peice of art, I find it so intriguing and amazing that artists can make things seem like their own. This lyric has probably been said in so many songs including one of Conan’s (The King) ad he makes it his owe. I love that songwriters have that talent and never fail to amaze me. This lyric is specifically talking about how the partner in question comes to Conan when he’s feeling alone and only when everyone else is bored of him. It kind of reminds me of Lana Del Rey in Norman Fucking Rockwell, if you know what I mean. Being the last choice for your own partner to talk to, that’s not the greatest feeling. We continue with the lyrics

These lyrics remind of the new Heartstopper show on Netflix with Charlie and that one guy in the beginning who manipulated him into thinking he loved him. I forgot his name but that relationship really reminds me of these lyrics. I’m someone you use, but never own being you call me to hangout or hookup and then completely ignore me like I never existed. Im someone you touch but never hold refers to someone wanting something physical but when it comes to an emotional hardship, the partner is completely absent from view. They’re not there at their worst times only there to reap benefits. And you’re someone I’ll never really know meaning you tell that person everything about yourself but it’s a one sided conversation and the other person never really breaks down their walls to tell you anything about themselves most likely because they don’t actually care about you the way you do for them.
2nd part- The Pre Chorus
“Oh, all I really wanted was that look in your eyes

Like you already know you're never saying goodbye”
This is perhaps my favorite part of the song I was balling so hard when I first listened to it. Seeing as I’ve never been in a relationship, Conan does a fucking fantastic job of making me feel like someone just dragged my ass through the street and dumped me in the river. All I really wanted was the look in your eyes?! Please are you kidding! I’m actually sobbing. For those of you who’ve been through this, I’m so sorry my heart actually breaks for you. I’m here for you if you ever need to talk about something like this.
Next up- The Chorus

It’s that moment when you realize your partner doesn’t feel the same way you do and you but you’re still opening your heart to them desperately still hoping you’ve got a shot at love with this person.
Verse 2
“So tell me that it's time for me to go
'Cause you know I can't do it on my own
The only thing that's harder than sleepin' alone
Is sleepin' with your ghost”
Ive noticed that in the first line he says it’s time for me to go and it just takes me back to when Conan put out Astronomy and he said those same words. Just a little thing I noticed. So here we get that there’s no longer a hope in the relationship but it’ll take more than that to leave. We need the person to make us leave because we know we’re not strong enough for that. He says The only thing harder than sleeping alone is sleeping with your ghost and I think that’s so true. When we’re in a relationship we want to feel a sense of home like there’s a life shared between two people but when that home doesn’t even exist when 1 life is gone, you have a longing feeling for the person to come back rather than you finding someone. I think it’s definitely a worse feeling to expect something and not get it than not having it at all.
He repeats the pre chorus and chorus so I had no need to repeat it but so amazing and those belts he whips out on yours. He’s got some pipes.
Bridge

I found it interesting how Conan ends the song with the bridge. You just don’t see it quite often. I think one of the more recent songs I saw was Naked by Finneas where he ended with the bridge. Anyways this bridge is a nice change from the rest of the song and sudeenly you have an new perspective on the song. All the things he did just so he could call them his, see what I did there? Fifteen dozen roses, gave up his friends for what? Them not to notice. It sucks.
This song really became one of my favorites within one listen it’s incredible. The piano was so nice and it could enchant you with the way it sounded, every hum it made every note it played felt like magic. With Conan’s voice, heaven.
