Art and Music Appreciation: Video Games

Video games have been a significant part of my life since childhood. From classics like Ocarina of Time and Street Fighter to modern titles like God of War, I've always been amazed at how the press of a button can create monumental moments. As I pursue my dream of becoming a Game Designer, I've noticed that many people around me appreciate mechanics but often overlook other crucial elements such as animation and music. While mechanics and gameplay are undoubtedly important, we must not forget the power of artistic expression.

I strongly believe that as an aspiring Game Designer, it is vital to recognize this integral aspect. Too often, game art and visuals go underappreciated compared to mechanics. However, the visuals play a significant role in enhancing the gaming experience. Let's take God of War as an example. While its gameplay is considered among the best of our generation, the meticulous attention to detail in character design, animation, and the captivating scores all contribute to a truly unforgettable storytelling experience.

Even in simpler games like Super Mario Bros, it's crucial to acknowledge the love poured into the art and music. We must remember that the life of any artist is challenging, and this rings particularly true in the demanding video game industry. Many artists and musicians tirelessly work to achieve their dreams. With this in mind, I urge you to take a moment when you play your next game, whether on your phone, console, or even VR, to appreciate the immense effort invested in its creation. The love and dedication poured into the games we enjoy every day are truly immeasurable! :)
